About Us
We have been found ineligible for temporary shelter by AFIC many times before. Adult families do not have the right to temporary housing assistance, so DHS has and uses their power to try to separate us. Because of the fact that it's a right for single people to receive shelter, DHS finds single applicants eligible based off the testimony of that homeless person alone.

Eventually, after The Coalition of the Homeless intervened, we were found eligible. AFIC arbitrarily rejects submitted evidence and discredits verifiable witnesses. The only reason why we were found eligible was because the Coalition pressured DHS to accept the validity of our evidence.
We want Mayor Bill de Blasio and the Administrator of DHS, Joslyn Carter, to make it a right for adult homeless families to receive temporary housing assistance in New York City and for Governor Andrew Cuomo to make it a right statewide.
